The Law of the Independent Republic of Uzbekistan "On the State Flag of the Republic of Uzbekistan" was adopted on November 18, 1991 at the extraordinary VII session of the Supreme Council of the Republic of Uzbekistan and since then, November 18 is celebrated in our country as the day of adoption of the State Flag. The State Flag was approved by Law No. 407-XII of the Republic of Uzbekistan "On the State Flag of the Republic of Uzbekistan" dated November 18, 1991.
The State Flag of the Republic of Uzbekistan consists of three horizontal stripes of dark blue, white and dark green colors, separated by two thin red stripes, with a white crescent and 12 stars on the blue stripe.
The dark blue color on the flag symbolizes the sky and water, representing life, wisdom, honesty, glory and loyalty. Historically, this was also the color of the flag of Amir Timur's empire.
The white color represents peace and purity. It symbolizes the light of day and celestial bodies, as well as the purity of thoughts, dreams and aspirations for inner beauty.
The green color symbolizes nature and renewal. For many nations, it represents fertility, hope and happiness.
The thin red stripes represent the life force flowing in our veins - the blood of our ancestors, symbolizing vitality, stability and continuity.
The crescent moon image is connected with our historical traditions. At the same time, it symbolizes the independence we have achieved.
The 12 stars on the State Flag of Uzbekistan are directly related to our historical traditions and ancient calendar. Our attention to twelve stars is also explained by the development of astronomy in the ancient states on the territory of Uzbekistan.
The image of 12 stars on our national flag should be understood as a symbol of the ancient culture of the Uzbek people and their aspiration for perfection and happiness in their native land.
