In 1931, the first higher education institution in the city of Kokand was founded.
Starting from 1939, a daytime form of education was established.
In 1943, the institution was named after the democratic poet Muqimiy — a reflection of deep respect for his devotion to science, enlightenment, and service to the people.
In 1943, the institution was transformed into a Women's Teachers' Institute — a significant step toward improving women's education and pedagogical capacity in the country.
In 1954, it became the Women's State Pedagogical Higher Education Institution, further opening the doors of higher pedagogical education for women.
In 2025, the institution was granted the status of Kokand State University, marking a new stage on the path of science and progress.
