Address by Dilnoza Khodjayeva, Rector of Kokand State University, calling on students, parents, and educators to remain vigilant about the harmful consequences of drug abuse and drug-related crimes

Dear students! Respected parents, esteemed teachers, and members of the university community!

In today’s rapidly changing world, one of our most important missions is to guide young people toward the right life choices, to help them build healthy habits, and to nurture them into morally mature individuals. Our future, the well-being of society, and the stability of our country depend on you — our beloved youth.

Unfortunately, drug abuse continues to rise around the world. As in many countries, we also sometimes witness young people — out of ignorance, fleeting curiosity, or the desire for easy profit — falling into the trap of this dangerous addiction. This brings serious harm to their health, future, family, and place in society.

Dear students!

You are the generation shaping our tomorrow, striving for knowledge, progress, and great ambitions. Do not risk your life for a momentary impulse. Remember: drug addiction is one of the most destructive forces — it destroys intellect, health, and a person’s future. Your discipline, determination, and commitment to your goals are the strongest shield against this danger.

Respected parents!

A child is the greatest treasure of any family. It is crucial to know who they befriend, how they spend their time, and how they view life. Stay close to your children, support them, and be their trusted advisor and companion. Together, we can protect our youth from any harm.

Esteemed teachers!

Every lesson, every piece of advice, and every moment of attention leaves a lasting impression on a student's life. Today, it is especially important to speak more often about the dangers of drug abuse, the importance of a healthy lifestyle, spirituality, and personal responsibility. Our duty is not only to provide education but also to equip young people with the resilience and values they need to withstand life’s challenges.

Today we must all unite against this threat. Combating drug addiction is not only the responsibility of law enforcement — it is the civic duty of every parent, teacher, and student.
